Remote Learning Plan
Remote learning provides an opportunity for learning to continue in the event of a school closure. In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, districts are required to have a Remote Learning Plan in place in the event that the district needs to close for an extended period of time due to an unforeseen emergency. The Remote Learning Plan will be incorporated into the District's Safety Plan. Additionally, the Remote Learning Plan may be implemented if the District has exhausted all of its emergency closing days. Implementing the plan will allow the district to provide instruction to students as planned rather than have to give back days over scheduled breaks. This document outlines the District's procedures for Remote Learning, including the expectations of students and staff.
Remote Learning is designed to provide students with an engaging learning experience that includes clear expectations and outcomes. The learning experiences will include online and offline learning activities, both of which include regular and substantive teacher-student interaction. Remote learning experiences may include live/synchronous instruction, instructional videos, and a mix of online and offline resources. All learning activities will be outlined on individual teachers' Google Classroom.
Who makes the decision to pivot to remote learning and how is the school community notified?
The Superintendent of Schools/Designee will make the decision to pivot to remote learning. Once a decision has been made, district communication methods will be utilized to contact teachers, parents/guardians, and students. This communication will include the date(s) for remote learning and the reason for pivoting. Communication methods may include SchoolMessenger (robocall, text, email) and postings on the district's website and social media pages.
Following notification from the District, each building's principal will send reminder messages to the families regarding the remote learning procedures that have been designed for their building.
What are the expectations tor teachers, student support stall, teaching assistants, and teacher aides?
Teachers will be notified if they are expected to teach from their classroom or from home. This decision will be based on the reason for the closing.
Teachers will follow the schedule provided by the building principal
Teachers must utilize Google Classroom/Google Meet to post assignments and provide access to live instruction.
Teachers will take attendance in SchoolTool.
All related services (Counseling, speech, etc.) are to be provided (remotely) as scheduled.
All regular school-day Academic Intervention Services {AIS) are to be provided (remotely) as scheduled.
Teaching Assistants will follow the schedule of the classroom teacher they are assigned to and provide support as directed by the teacher.

Follow the Student Code of Conduct, follow the District's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), and engage in appropriate online behavior.
What is the schedule tor Elementary School students?
On a remote day, we will function on a condensed instructional block schedule, so that specials and lunches are able to proceed normally. You will attend your daily special during the same instructional block that you normally would, however, refer to the below schedule for condensed times.
For example:
If you attend music on Mondays at 1 :22 p.m. (during the 7th instructional block) on a Monday remote day, you will still attend music during the 7th instructional block at 2:00 PM.
Follow the schedule below. Pay close attention to the day of the week, as some classes differ.
What is the schedule tor Junior /Senior High School students?
Junior/Senior High School students will follow the schedule outlined below. We will continue to follow the originally scheduled cycle day (A, B, C, or D) and will send a reminder email to students and families reminding cycle day.
During each instructional period, students will receive a minimum of 20 minutes of live/synchronous instruction. Any remaining time will be for independent practice/learning using resources provided by the teacher during live instruction.
What Technology will be used to support remote learning?
Equitable access to technology and the Internet is critical to the success of this plan. The District is committed to ensuring that all students have access to a device to access remote learning. If a student does not have an internet-enabled device at home that is suitable for remote learning, parents/guardians are encouraged to contact the District Technology Department to arrange for a device to be sent home for their child. This device should not be transported back and forth to school. If a household does not have sufficient access to the Internet, we encourage families to find alternative locations for their children to participate in remote learning until a plan can be developed for accessing the internet at home. The district has access to a limited number of internet connectivity devices (hot spots) that may be loaned as needed. If a student cannot access online learning materials provided to other students, alternate arrangements will be made. Each case will be addressed on an individual basis.
