On October 2, a group of Ellenville students attended a County-wide presentation on drug addiction and prevention at SUNY Ulster. This educational event was proudly sponsored by R.Y.A.N. House, a Saugerties-based organization dedicated to raising awareness about narcotics and providing support for those battling addiction.
The featured speaker for the event was Tony Hoffman, whose life journey serves as an inspiring testament to the power of resilience and recovery. Hoffman, a former BMX racer, experienced firsthand the devastating effects of drug use, which led him down a path to prison. However, Tony's story is one of transformation. Since his release from prison, he has worked tirelessly to turn his life around and now dedicates himself to helping young people understand the risks of drug addiction.
His message was a powerful one, emphasizing the importance of being aware of the dangers of narcotics abuse and of the ease with which anyone can fall into addiction.
