Scholar athletes

The Ellenville Central School District is proud to announce that Skyler Davis and Dina Stewart have been named the 2024 Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) Senior Scholar-Athlete Award recipients from Ellenville Junior/Senior High School. The awards, which are given to two students from each school in the League, are based on academic merit and athletic performance.

Skyler, who ranked third in her class, served as a captain of the Varsity Field Hockey team for two years, and is also a member of the Varsity Track and Field team. She has earned nine Varsity letters.

Skyler is a member of the National Honor Society and the president of the Spanish Honor Society. She participates in both the High School Band and the High School Choir, and is the treasurer of the Chamber Singers. In addition, Skyler is this year’s Principal’s Award recipient.

Outside of school, Skyler volunteers as an interior firefighter and serves as a corresponding secretary with the Napanoch Firehouse. She has earned State and national interior firefighting operations certifications.

In the fall, Skyler will be attending Mercy University, where she will major in Clinical Laboratory Science.

Dina, who is ranked fourth in her class, played Varsity Field Hockey since her sophomore year. Serving as captain of Ellenville’s Field Hockey team, she received both Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Most Dependable awards and was named to the 2023 Section IX Field Hockey All-Star Second Team. She also served as the captain of the Varsity Outdoor Track team. In addition, Dina has earned Varsity letters in Cross Country, Softball, and Indoor Track.

Dina is a member of the National Honor Society and the president of the Spanish Honor Society. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma. She tutors younger students in Spanish 1 and has volunteered at Ellenville Senior High School’s College Fair. In the fall, Dina will be attending Stony Brook University, where she will be majoring in Computer Science.
