NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING and ANNUAL MEETING and ELECTION
ELLENVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
TOWNS OF WAWARSING, MAMAKATING, AND ROCHESTER COUNTY OF ULSTER, NEW YORK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a budget hearing for the purpose of discussion of the expenditures of funds and the budgeting of such expenditures for the 2025-2026 school year of the Ellenville Central School District, Ulster County, New York will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 7:30 PM, prevailing time, at the Junior/Senior High School Media Center for the presentation of the budget document.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that said vote and election will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, prevailing time, in the Junior/Senior High School Media Center, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine upon the following items:
(1) a proposition to adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2025-2026 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District, and any other propositions which are placed before the voters.
(2) to elect three (3) members whom will serve three (3) year terms commencing July 1, 2025 and expiring on June 30, 2028.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School District’s budget for 2025-2026, exclusive of public monies, as well as the Exemption Report, listing every type of exemption granted, as provided in Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law, may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, prevailing time, beginning Tuesday, May 13, 2025, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at the Administration Office, 28 Maple Avenue, Ellenville, New York, on the District’s website, and at each of the following school buildings:
Ellenville Junior/Senior High School and Ellenville Elementary School
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the Clerk of said School District at his/her office in the Administrative Building prevailing time no later than 5:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2025. Vacancies on the Board of Education are not considered separate, specific offices; candidates run at large. Nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board from which the candidate is nominated; must be directed to the Clerk of the District; must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District; must state the name and residence of each signer and must state the name and residence of the candidate.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots or early mail ballots will be obtainable during school business hours from the District Clerk; completed applications must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than thirty (30) days before the vote and at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Qualified military voters may request a military absentee ballot application from the District Clerk during school business hours, and may indicate their preference to receive a military absentee ballot application via mail, facsimile or electronic mail. Absentee ballots for military voters shall be administered in accordance with the provisions of Section 2018-d of the Education Law and Part 122 of the Commissioner’s Regulations. Absentee ballots and early mail ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
A list of persons to whom absentee ballots or early mail ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the office of the District Clerk on or after Thursday, May 15, 2025, between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, prevailing time, on weekdays prior to the day set for the annual election and on Saturday, May 17, 2025 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, prevailing time, and on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 the day set for the election.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that personal registration of voters is required pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the preceding four (4) calendar years, they are eligible to vote at this election; if a voter is registered and eligible to vote under Article 5 of the Election Law, they are also eligible to vote at this election.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that such register will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the district on or after Thursday, May 15, 2025 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, prevailing time, on weekdays prior to the day set for the annual election and on Saturday, May 17, 2025 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, prevailing time, and on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 the day set for the election, and said list will be posted at the polling place at the election.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that qualified voters of the Ellenville Central School District may register at the office of the District Clerk of the Ellenville Central School District at 28 Maple Avenue on any school day between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, prevailing time, up until Thursday, May 15, 2025. At this time any person shall have their name placed on the election register, provided that at such time the person has proven their identity to the satisfaction of the Clerk and shall be entitled to vote. A qualified military voter who is not currently registered can request a military personal registration form during the same times and at the same locations as listed above. Additionally, qualified military voters can contact the District Clerk to indicate their preference to receive a personal registration application via mail, facsimile or electronic mail.
