A senior hugs a Grade 6 student

The Ellenville Central School District’s Mentor program just wrapped up another successful year!

The program, which began in November 2023, is designed to help deepen relationships between Ellenville seniors and Grade 6 students. Many of the younger students have even shared that they feel more prepared for the Junior/Senior High School because of their older mentors.

At the end of the school year, the mentors wrote letters to their mentees, which brought many of them to tears. Then, during the senior walkthrough, which took place at Ellenville Elementary School last month, program advisor Briana Mangram captured this emotional moment between a mentor and a mentee. Mangram said, "This picture exemplifies how powerful and meaningful the Mentor program was this year!"

Mangram, along with the program’s other advisor, EES Assistant Principal Heather Heidelberg, would like to thank everyone who has supported the Mentor program, and helped bridge the gap between the Elementary and Junior/Senior High School. They both look forward to continuing and improving the program in the fall!
