A student puts on a fire jacket

Ellenville schools take fire prevention and safety seriously! For Fire Prevention Week (October 6-12), the Elementary School hosted fire trucks from the community, allowing students to get an up-close look at what it takes to perform this life-saving role.

Firefighter volunteers explained how their equipment protects them and saves lives during fires. Students even had the opportunity to handle some of the protective gear, experiencing firsthand how heavy it is.

A big thank you to the firefighters from Ellenville, Napanoch, and Cragsmoor who generously shared their time to demonstrate their equipment and discuss fire prevention and safety with our students.
