Wrinkled Hearts activity

This week, our Ellenville Elementary School students explored the lasting impact of words with a school-wide activity called "The Wrinkled Heart." Just as a crumpled paper heart can never be perfectly smooth again, our students learned how hurtful words leave lasting marks.

Through age-appropriate stories and discussions, students discovered important truths about kindness. As they explored examples of hurtful words, they crumpled their paper hearts—then tried to smooth them back. Those stubborn wrinkles became a visual lesson about the permanence of our words.

Walk through our hallways and you'll see these meaningful reminders displayed: "Before you speak, think and be smart. It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart!"

Together, we're building a school community where kindness comes first.
