Grade 12 mentor aids Grade 6 mentee on scavenger hunt through Ellenville High School.

Our Grade 12 student mentors welcomed their Grade 6 mentees last week for an exciting scavenger hunt through the halls of Ellenville Jr/Sr High School! For many of our sixth graders, this marked their first time exploring their future high school—and what better way to discover it than with a senior mentor leading the way?

The hunt had our student pairs searching for School Resource Officers to selfie with, learning about resources like the Care Closet, sharing fist bumps with Principal Pabón, and more! These meaningful connections help our younger students feel more confident about their future transition to high school.

We're thrilled to share that our Mentorship Program, led by Assistant Principal Heather Heidelberg and Districtwide Case Worker Briana Mangram, has more than doubled in size this year, connecting 38 Grade 12 mentors with 46 Grade 6 students. The program's growing popularity speaks to its success in fostering leadership, friendship, and community within our schools.
