On October 18, Chapter 1 and 2 scholars from the Ellenville P-TECH Academy attended a matinee performance of the award-winning Broadway musical “Hamilton” at the Richard Rodgers Theater in New York City. This experience was the culminating activity for a recent cross-curricular unit in English and United States History, where our scholars studied the historical context behind the musical, as well as the poetic devices used to create the original persona poems in the voice of an American Revolutionary hero. Following the show, our scholars had the opportunity to learn more about the production by participating in a discussion panel with the cast and crew. This exciting and educational opportunity was made possible through a collaboration between the Ellenville P-TECH team and the Gilder Lehrman Institute. Bravo!
